ABOUT DEREK RICHARDS
I am an interdisciplinary creative – a polymath. I won’t apologise for that on this dedicated video portfolio site because with that diversity of experience comes a breadth of knowledge and creativity – the ability to think outside of the box that restricts approach to find innovative solutions to complex challenges.
However, the central spine of my work is the moving image and I have long enough experience working with film and video to have learned more than many working specialists. If video is the spine, interactive digital tech are the legs. I programme, I design and I have a deep understanding of interactivity and the modes of audience engagement across online/social, broadcast, cinema and live event projection and am fully conversant with the technical considerations for deploying media across all of those platforms.
But most important, when working as a producer, is my passion for facilitating collaboration and learning. Building and managing strong relationships and empowering people to form teams whose collective strengths and imaginations, once harnessed, can achieve anything is the most rewarding thing, especially when the output is a creative thing.
This site is a portfolio of work that has applied that range and depth of experience to delivering measurably great results for clients and partners. The things are the output. If you want to know about the process and the person, give me a shout.
